“How We Caught It”

Our story begins with one man’s passion for Jeeps….
Ken our founding father, started and named this new disease we come to know as Jeepitis. I couldn’t tell how long ago he caught Jeepitis, but its been at least 20 years. He can tell you stories about everyone of the Jeeps he has owned and fixed (to many too count). After a few conversations with him its hard not to picture yourself behind the wheel of a Jeep. Ken is a walking billboard for the Jeep brand, and should get paid for what he has done for the Jeep Company. As you read our story try to remember that this all was the work of one passionate man.

His obesssion for Jeeps quickly was caught by his two sons Troy, and Nick. The three of then spent countless hours in the garage fixing and building all kinds of Jeeps. Each one of them soon had their own custom vehicle and proudly showed off their works of art. The one thing they all agreed on was they loved Jeeps, and they loved Wagoneers (gotta love the big Jeep). They were making a name for themselves, everyone knew who to call for parts or where to buy a well loved and used quality Jeep.

During their highschool years Troy and Nick dated like most boys their age, and would bring their girlfriends home to hang out. Well it wasn’t long before thier girlfriends had caught the fever and had to have part in this families Jeep obsession. They all would go on four wheeling trips with the local Jeep dealership to Paragon Park. Or help out in the garage.

Eventually Troy married his highschool girlfriend Carly, and she too owns and drives her own Jeep. Carly’s own family was greatly influenced buy Troy and Ken, and soon started to purchase Jeeps. The first was her mother Dori who has now owned two Grand cherokees (not at the same time). Then her father Barry bought a Jeep Liberty (family first). Cousin David also got himself a cherokee. Most recently her Aunt and Uncle just purchased their first Grand Cherokee. And if that isn’t enough her sister is looking to jump on the band wagon.

A countless number of our friends have caught the fever and owned or still own Jeeps by influence of Jeepitis. Off the top of my head i’ll list a few of them for you… Colleen, Amber, Kevin, Steve, Barry, Terry, Shaun, Mr. P, Heather, Shane, Kim, Tim, and many others who actually purchased Jeeps from Ken.

Ken has owned to many Jeeps to count and still has a large and ever changing collection of Jeeps and Jeep parts to keep himself busy. Troy is now on his fifth Jeep and most likely won’t stop there. He at on time had three Jeeps on the road. Nick is now driving his third owned Jeep a Wrangler (family first). His first Jeep a Wagoneer was sold and is now used as a mail vehicle. Carly is now driving her second Jeep a Grand Cherokee, which i guess you can say is also Troy’s Jeep. Her first Jeep a Grand Wagoneer, was traded in and was bought by a family not far from us.

Most recently Troy and Nick’s mother Lana bought herself a Jeep Liberty. Yes it took her awhile to catch the fever, but you can bet she’s not gonna get rid ot it now. Carly, and Troy’s next door neighbors Shane, and Heather just traded in their mini-van for a Grand Cherokee. It was only a matter of time being that they live next door, that they would catch something from us.

Our story concludes (for now) with the newest and youngest member of our family… Grace, now 10 months old proudly owns her own Jeep gear. She peddles around in a Jeep Liberty walker given to her by her Uncle Nick. Pop Pop Ken and Daddy Troy have plans to build her a Jeep with more power in the near future.  (Written in 2004)
